Day 10 La Fleche to Tours

The annual Paris-Tours cycle race is a classic race, and a sprinters’ favourite. Many of the famous Tour de France sprinters have won here. A sprinter’s course was good news to us, as it meant there are very few big hills around! Indeed, Day 10 is the flattest of our 44 day journey, and without a head wind, we reached a really fast pace. We had a nice spin in the country side today. Along the way we saw a number of grand chateaus. We arrived into Tours in good condition however the groups had changed a fair bit with people opting for a change following lunch and the tour we did of a medieval castle/Chateau at Langeals. The day was about 115 km following a couple of wrong turns. Tours is a more modern city mainly because it was bombed a great deal during the war. It has a tram and bus system in the centre and shops spread around it. There are bikes everywhere and you have to watch yourself.

Tomorrow its 123 km to Montmorillon via La Roche-Posay for lunch.
