Reviews for Vietnam Lifestyle Bicycle Tour – 12 days - Tour

Fantastic trip. Cycling the HCM trail was superb. We understand many of the cycling trips are only down the southern coastal route but the northern sector from HaNoi down the HCM trail is a must. Highly recommend Global Adventure.

We leave the hotel bright and early at around 8am and drive south for about an hour and a half before hopping on our bikes for the first time. Our picturesque ride takes us on back-roads through rice paddies and small villages. There's time for a picnic lunch along the way before we continue to MaiChau, located in a beautiful valley filled with rice paddies and surrounded by limestone mountains. This region is home to the Thai and Muong people. We will stay here for the next 2 nights.

MaiChau to MocChau to MaiChau

Cycling: up to 60 km

After breakfast its an hour's drive to the MocChau plateau, where we'll stop at HuaTat. From there we start a beautiful and leisurely mountainside ride along the old colonial road No. 6. It's 25km to MocChau town, and the journey is at your own pace (usually about 3 hours). Then we arrive in a beautiful Thai village at the foot of a limestone mountain, where lunch is waiting. Next, we'll visit a tea factory and discover how best to make excellent local Vietnamese tea. We continue on a quiet road through plum orchards, trading ‘hellos’ with locals, before cycling (or driving) back to MaiChau.

In the morning cycle through tiny mountain villages alongside rice fields at the foot of the mountains. Maybe chat with the friendly locals while observing their lifestyle which is simple and serene. DAY 10

Cycling: 22 km

In the morning we'll ride into the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hoi An's Old Town, an ancient trading centre and former seaport on the banks of the ThuBon River. The local architecture reflects the influence of trade with the Portuguese, French, Dutch, Chinese and Japanese as far back as the 16th Century. After a tour around, our path leads through unspoiled nature to a fishing village where time seems to have stopped 100 years ago. A small boat will bring us along the ThuBon to a traditional ceramics studio.

HoiAn and surrounds

Cycling: 25 km

You'll ride a narrow dirt road, chatting with locals off to school or the raucous NoiRang market. After a restaurant lunch, enjoy 2 hours cycling through rice fields to Kim Bong craft village. We'll visit families producing sleeping mats and bowl-shaped coracle boats, and visit a ship-building yard. Next, a boat back to HoiAn. It's a photogenic view, with old houses, busy local docks and street-life along the river bank.
