BANGKOK TO PHUKET ROAD CYCLING

THAILAND CYCLING TOUR – 10 DAYS

  • Asia Lifestyle Tour
  • 10 Days Bangkok to Phuket
  • Best Travel Times: January – March / July – December
  • Price Range: Starting from $2646 NZD

Explore breathtaking views of Thailand on a scenic and awe-inspiring adventure with seemingly endless beach views and unforgettable cycling experiences.

Riding down the narrowest part of Thailand between Bangkok and Phuket, our cycling tour snakes along the East and West coast. You can compare the beauty of the beaches on the Gulf of Thailand to those on the Andaman Sea. On this 850 km road tour, you will cycle on smooth tarmac through quaint little villages and past Buddhist temples as you absorb the slower pace of life. Varied riding, spectacular coastline scenery, statuesque peaks and the warm Thai culture will be among the many highlights of this adventure.

You will stay in a mix of hotels and resorts. This tour is 100% on road and we have designed the route with road bikers in mind. We start with a transfer out of Bangkok to avoid the dangers of riding through a very busy metropolis. The first half of the ride is on flat roads mainly following the beach. The total distance is 850 km in eight riding days. Some of the distances are quite long, but the roads are smooth, thus making it an achievable distance on a road bike. The trip is fully supported and your guide’s expert knowledge of the area and terrain means that you will always know what lies ahead.

TOUR ITINERARY

  • DAY 1 – Arrival Day: Bangkok to Petchaburi to Hua Hin – Cycling: 67 km

We will meet at a Bangkok hotel for the transfer and then start our first ride from Petchaburi. We cycle alongside the beach into Cha-am and on to the beach resort town of Hua Hin.

  • DAY 2 – Hua Hin to Prachuap Khiri Khan – Cycling: 116 km

We head out of Hua Hin towards Sam Roi Yot National Park, followed by a short ride on the main road, before heading back to the coast. The final section is along the beach to Prachuap Khiri Khan.

  • DAY 3 – Prachuap Khiri Khan to Ban Krut – Cycling: 78 km

We leave the hotel and ride along the beachfront road for about 12 km before reaching the main road. This section is 45 km with the option to transfer if preferred. We head towards a serene beach and our nature-friendly boutique resort.

  • DAY 4 – Ban Krut: Rest day – No Cycling
  • DAY 5 – Ban Krut to Chumpon – Cycling: 118 km

Our route follows the coast, as we are passing through Thailand’s narrowest part. We end the ride just north of Chumpon, a secluded and quiet beach.

  • DAY 6 – Chumpon to Ranong – Cycling: 139 km

We cross the Isthmus of Kra, which separates the Gulf of Thailand from the Adaman Sea. There is a climb of 3 km starting at the Pun Ya Ban waterfall and then it’s downhill all the way to Ranong.

  • DAY 7 – Ranong to Khuraburi – Cycling: 125 km

There are no extreme climbs on our ride today, just enough ascents and descents to make it interesting. After some great views, the ride ends in a lovely little resort nestled in a valley and surrounded by lush tropical rainforest.

  • DAY 8 – Khuraburi to Khao Lak – Cycling: 79 km

We continue our journey south riding towards picturesque Khao Lak. The road flattens out as we reach Takua Pa, a former Portuguese settlement.

  • DAY 9 – Khao Lak to Phuket – Cycling: 128 km

The last leg of the tour leads to the tropical paradise of Phuket Island, Thailand’s largest. This road is in excellent condition. If we are feeling energetic we can take a very scenic coastal road with a few small but steep hills on the way – the views are well worth the effort.

  • DAY 10 – Phuket: Departure day – No cycling

Time to relax after eight days of great cycling. Maybe you’d like to extend your stay in Phuket or alternatively head home today.
