Our Chile Road Cycling Tour offers you great cycling routes, stunning scenery and outstanding accommodation in the lake and volcano districts of Chile.

Cycling Chile’s southern backroads is the ultimate green tour. You will pedal through landscapes of snowcapped volcanoes, deep valleys, lakes and curious forests of monkey puzzle trees set against the awesome backdrop of the Andes.

Our North to South route begins in Temuco, from where we will cycle through Chile’s Lakes and Volcanos. We climb over the southern Andes mountain range and continue past scenic lakes and impressive volcanoes. Sample the great food and wine this region offers. This tour is the perfect choice for recreational or more experienced cyclists looking to ride in a spectacular destination.

This well-supported cycling program has been especially created for intermediate and advanced road cyclists. You will need to be fit in order to take part in the full distance rides. The tour is ideal for groups of riders with different abilities who want to travel and bike together. A support vehicle is always available if you want to take a break from riding.

FITNESS AND PREPARATION
GRADE 3 – MODERATE TOURS
Moderate to Challenging tours are designed for the more experienced participants who wish to push themselves and experience new highs of achievement. Routes may include longer climbs and will require more technical skills.

FITNESS REQUIRED
A good level of fitness is required and you are advised to exercise three or four times a week during the build up to the tour.

TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1 – Arrival Day: Temuco to Malalcahuello – Cycling: 19 km / approx. 1 hr
We will meet you at Temuco Airport in Chile’s Araucania Region and transfer you to Malalcahuello. In the evening we will have a pre-tour briefing before dinner with your guides and fellow cyclists.

DAY 2 – Kütralkura Geopark and The Andes Climb – Cycling: 57 km (+ optional 22 km) / approx. 3.5 hrs
From the Sierra Nevada Range we will travel alongside the Lonquimay River. We will bike the Geopark territory through the lands of different Pewenches communities, ascending the international path Pino Achado until reaching the Customs.

DAY 3 – Malalcahuello to Pucón – Cycling: 75 km / approx. 4 hrs
We will ride down the valley from the village of Malalcahuello alongside the Cautín River, enjoying a beautiful view of the volcanoes Llaima, Lonquimay and Tolhuaca. After the ride, we will travel to Pucón, the main adventure tourism destination in the Lake & Volcano District.

DAY 4 – Pucón: Hiking Day – No cycling

DAY 5 – Pucón’s Hot Springs Loop Ride – Cycling: 52 km / approx. 3 hours
We will cycle to Lake Caburgua and towards Pucon’s famous Hot Springs, while enjoying views of the Villarrica volcano. We will end the day with a short ride to our hotel in Pucón.

DAY 6 – Pucón’s Vllarrica National Park Loop Ride – Cycling: 109 km / approx. 5 hrs
We will cycle toward a small Mapuche village near the border with Argentina, and alongside the Trancura River while enjoying views of three volcanoes: Villarrica, Quetrupillan and Lanín.

DAY 7 – Chile’s 7-lake Route – Cycling: 95 km / approx. 6 hrs
Today we ride one of Chile’s most scenic roads, The 7-Lake Route. We will pedal alongside the shores of Calafquén and Panguipulli, and cover three-quarters of the way around Villarrica, a snow-capped active volcano. We continue riding alongside Lake Panguipulli before driving to the Natural Reserve Huilo Huilo for an overnight stay at the Nothofagus Hotel & Spa.

DAY 8 – Natural Reserve Huilo-Huilo – No cycling

DAY 9 – The German Settlers Route – Cycling: 90 km / approx. 5 hrs
We begin cycling in the city of Osorno, and we end the ride by the beach of Lake Llanquihue.

DAY 10 – The North side of Llanquihue Lake Loop – Cycling: 48 km / approx. 3 hrs
We will ride through rolling hills and beautiful beaches along Lake Llanquihue, the second largest lake in Chile. We will continue towards Frutillar and Puerto Varas.

DAY 11 – Vicente Perez Rosales National Park Ride – Cycling: 55 km / approx. 4 hrs
We start riding alongside Lake Llanquihue as we travel toward the village of Ensenada. We begin pedaling from Puerto Varas to Petrohue, attacking 34 miles in one of the most beautiful routes of the tour, before completing the ride in the city of Puerto Varas.

DAY 12 – Puerto Varas to Puerto Montt Airport – No cycling
After breakfast we will go to Puerto Montt City and visit the Market of Angelmó. Later we will transfer you to Puerto Montt airport in time for your flight home.
